The qualities of leadership are already within you, beneath the conditioned thinking patterns and fears that prevent you from tapping into them.
Many people have told me that I’m a leader, but I haven’t always led. In fact, I’ve often been afraid to lead. I’ve let fear of judgement prevent me from speaking up. I haven’t shared my work, because I was afraid it wasn’t perfect yet. I haven’t taken risks because I feared failure.
I focused on learning to improve my skills. I read, I took courses, I studied the behaviour of leaders. Yet, I still felt I wasn’t leading as powerfully as I could.
Where was I going wrong?
What I wasn’t seeing is that leadership starts within.
The source of leadership is our innate intelligence, discernment and clarity of thinking.
These qualities are already there, within us. And we access them and step more powerfully into them, when we remove the misconceptions, conditioning and fears that are in the way of expressing them.
Acquired knowledge of course helps. But its power is auxiliary to that of your innate knowledge. Acquired knowledge without full access to your inherent intelligence is like trying to be a Michelin-starred chef when your taste buds aren’t working.
Everyone is born a leader.
Leadership is not something you obtain, it’s something you already have. Intelligence, discernment and wisdom are your natural state. When we undo the conditioning that’s in the way of accessing them, we lead powerfully.
Leaders aren’t made—they’re unmade.
