Expressing our true self

We normally think that we suffer because we are not good enough in some capacity. We’re not powerful enough, not smart enough, not creative enough. But often the real reason we suffer is because the life we’re living is too small for the person we are.

We don’t suffer because we’re not good enough, we suffer because we’re too good for the life we’re currently leading. When we lock away and hide parts of ourselves, we’re not stepping into our full power and potentiality. And suffering is life’s way of calling us to free and express these parts in order to for us to align with our real essence. Because the thing is that the parts we keep hidden are often the most powerful parts of us.

In our attempts to fit in and find approval, belonging and acceptance, we suppress certain aspects of ourselves. But true belonging is not with others, true belonging is with our own self. We belong with the world around us when we learn to belong with ourselves first. When we accept, choose, love and express ourselves for who we are. Not for whom we think we should be, not for whom we think the world needs us to be, but for whom we truly are.

We discern this when we align with our heart and soul rather than with our mind. On a somatic level, we always know if we’re abandoning ourselves. We know if we’re underexpressing or worse oppressing our true self, because when we do we suffer. And whether our pain manifests as disappointment with ourselves, lack of energy, or the absence of mental or physical resources, we suffer when we abandon ourselves. The burdens and obstacles that life throws at us are its way of calling us to step into our full power.

Life is generous, abundant and creative. And it expresses and reflects itself through us by virtue of our individuality. Our very own interests, talents, gift, ideas are ours only—they come in an arrangement and combination that is unique to who we are.

We are the most free, powerful and creative version of ourselves when we are in alignment with our very own unique nature. When we step out of judgement and we express our unique individuality we fulfil on the most expansive life of happiness, love, power and freedom we could live.
