Human connection

Sharing our life with others is perhaps one of the most beautiful and touching aspects of the human experience.

Celebrating with someone when things go well. Talking over our hurt when they don’t.

Sharing the good moments and the bad moments. The victories and the losses.

It’s that sense of sharedness that connects us as humans.

And I think the deepest form of that connection is the feeling that our emotions touch.

That you are not just there for one another, but that you’re so connected that they actually experience the excitement you feel. That they get happy when you’re happy.

When we have some good news to share and we can’t wait to tell a loved one, when we can’t wait to see how their face will light up at our joy, how our excitement will excite them, how our emotions will meet — this, I think, is one of the most beautiful human experiences.

And a reminder that we’re all more alike than not. We want to belong. We want to connect. We want to be safe, and seen, and heard.
